Why outside the glass changes everything

Sunlight becomes heat the moment it passes through glass. An internal blind sits behind that glass — the heat is already in the room, and the pocket of air between blind and window turns into a warm-air trap that radiates back at you all afternoon.

NSS Lunar sits in front of the glass. Most of that solar radiation is intercepted at the window face and vented to open air, before it can convert into indoor heat. On Perth's west- and north-facing windows, that difference is what decides the room.
